Comics & Movies

To expose dDominator's adorable personality, we decided to create dDominator.net Comics and share some of the humorous real life experiences we have shared with Bryce, aka dDominator. New comic strips will debut on Instagram at instagram.com/dInfluencher (ClareVoyant's Instagram). Follow that instagram account to see the latest comic before anyone else and also get warnings from ClareVoyant of any danger or frustation she sees in dDominator's future, and maybe yours. After debuting on Instagram, comics will be moved to this website page, latest comic strip first, along with a brief description of the inspiration for each comic strip. You can also check out instagram.com/ddominatorbehindthescenes to find out more about the comics, people behind them, and other secrets of life.

We also produce movies based on our comics starring characters who are persons with disabilites.  You can find them on Instagram and Youtube @ddominatordotnet.
dDominator vs. Canttankerus was our first movie and is based on comic strip 3. ClareVoyant Schools Bully Bull was our second movie and is based on comic strip 4. Our third movie is The Revenge of Canttankerus which will be released in June 2024. More movies based on our comics are coming.

Our latest comic, Comic Strip 7 - dD Catches a Fever

The Inspiration:  This comic strip introduces the heros Shadow She and HugHippie along with the villain/hero, Fever/Favor. This strip as well as strips 8 and 9 will round out all the heroes in Da Alliance.
Parental Observation:  Our goal is to make a unique superhero for each and every club member because they deserve it and the world needs more superheroes with disabilities.

Comic Strip 6 - The Revenge of Canttankerus
comic 6 page 1

The Inspiration:  This comic strip is a sequel of Comic 3 that revisits the grudge match between dDominator and his nemisis Canttankerus. It is also used to introduce a new dDominator Comic superhero, Sinnntilate. His name is pronounced Sinnn-tilate (with the n drawn out like Michael Buffer did as the ring announcer for legendary boxing matches). He was an undefeated champion boxer before being banned by the boxing commissions of all 50 states due to his lethal left-right combination know as Boom Boom Wow. Forced into involuntary retirement, he's more like an antihero, brooding and frustrated, as he lives a solitay life of exile filled with rigourous training and a single goal in mind... to use his Boom Boom Wow to leave villains and bullies in his wake and add meaning back into his life.
Parental Observation:  Down Syndrome kids really like superheros. We are hoping dDominator Comic superheros catch on and inspire fans to wear a dDominator Comics Superhero Costume next Halloween because the world would be a better place with superheroes who have a disability.

Comic Strip 5 - I need a girlfriend
comic 5 - I need a girlfriend
The Inspiration:  This comic strip was inspired by Bryce's real life expectation that his goal of having a girlfriend would coincide with going to college. He has asked several times, "What about my girlfriend?" and we would tell him you need to talk to girls to become friends and maybe, someday, one of those friends will become a girlfriend. But he expects it all to happen magically and has said his girlfriend will be waiting for him in college. He starts a new program (college for him) this summer so I'm sure his expectations are high.

Parental Observation:  Down Syndrome kids want boyfriends and girlfrieds just like everyone else. So why not?

Comic Strip 4 - ClareVoyant schools Bully Bull
Comic 4 - ClareVoyant Schools Bully Bull
The Inspiration:  This comic strip introduces 2 new characters, ClareVoyant and Bully Bull. ClareVoyant was created so that we would have a female superhero counterpart to dDominator. Clare is an Instagram Blogger, under the account name dinfluencher, and an avid fan of dDominator who shares the adventures of dDominator with her followers to help protect them and dD. So, make sure to follow her on Instagram. She's also a superhero in her own right who transforms into ClareVoyant when dDominator needs her help or when dDominator's not available to save the day. Her superpowers are clairvoyance, which she uses to watch over and warn dD and her followers, and hypnotic eyes that hypnotize and tantalize. The other character is a new villain, Bully Bull. As you would guess he's a bully, online, and in person both physically and verbally. Our kids are especially vulnerable to bullies and need every day heros to stick up for them when needed. ClareVoyant is based on the real-life mother of Bryce's friend Gabe. Her name is Clare and now she appears as both Mother Clare and ClareVoyant in our comic strips. We think she's a superhero in real life too.

Parental Observation:  Down Syndrome kids face less bullying than in the past but they are still easy targets for all kinds of bullying, both online and in everyday life. Luckily, most people today seem to sense their vulnerability and go out of their way to protect them from bullies and repudiate the bullies when encountered. We hope sharing our life with Bryce helps sensitize would-be bullies by demonstrating our kids are people just like all other people with aspirations and feelings that deserve respect.

Comic Strip 3 - dDominator confronts his arch nemisis, Canttankerus
dDominator Comics Strip 3 - dDominator confronts his arch nemesis, Canttankerus

The Inspiration:  There are a couple inspirations for this strip.  First, dDominator needs an evil enemy to fight. This strip introduces Canttankerus, a troublemaker and bad influence for dD and his friends.  Canttankerus heaves his bad influence balls at them to make them stubborn and ornery. This strip also shows the good side of Canttankerus, his alter ego Candancalot. dD turns Canttankerus into Candancalot with his Love Beam. Canttankerus and Candancalot were created for Bryce's beloved Hip Hop teacher, Emi, also an actor. Candancalot isn't mentioned in the strip because we dreamed him up after the strip was already done but he's the good version of Canttankerus dancing in the last frame.  Emi wanted to be a good guy in addition to the evil nemisis and we wanted Emi's character to have a fun and lovable personality just like Emi. The second reason is most Down Syndrome parents will tell you their kids are famous for being stubborn and difficult at times. This strip puts the blame on Canttankerus rather than the kids themselves. Who knew?
Parental Observation:  Down Syndrome kids may be known for stubborness but our experience is that diminishes as communication increases. It's also just something you learn to work around, sometimes with the help of a behaviorist. Ours taught us not to engage Bryce as his stubbornness escalates.  It's better to clearly state our stance, once, then calmly back off until Bryce deescalates. At that, he's more likely to talk rationally. A couple other things, patience goes a long way, and offering choices to get the reaction you desire can work. We found choice empowers Bryce. He hates everyone else always deciding things for him.

Comic Strip 2 - Introducing the Love Beam with Hug Inducing Filter
ddominator.net comic - love beam
The Inspiration:  Every get together of Bryce and his friends, and every parting, includes a hug-fest. That includes friends, volunteers, parents and anyone else who gets in the way. Their love and hugs don't discriminate. This is an example of one of those get togethers, a volleyball clinic(s) we ran.  It was so much fun. I vividly remember one volunteer's mom telling me days later that she'd never had so many hugs.  Thus, the source of dDominator's weapon, the love beam with hug inducing filter.
Parental Observation:  Down Syndrome kids make true and close friends when socializing with special needs peers. And friends are vitally important to them. That's why we included Bryce in every special needs activity we could find; special olympics, sports, dance, formal dinners, after-school care, etc. Bryce has more close friends than we can count. He has fun with, and gets along with everyone, but his special needs friends are dear and special relationships.

Comic Strip 1 - I'm Coming...dDominator to the rescue
dDominator Comic Strip 1
The Inspiration: Most special needs parents know that special needs kids need extra help cleaning their backside after going #2 and this need can extend into adulthood. We, like many other parents, taught our son to use baby wipes. We carry them with us everywhere and pack them in his backpack too. These "magic wipes" are handy for that need and useful for many other needs during our adventures with Bryce. Thus, the dDominator's costume includes a bag with "Magic Wipes".  Comic Strip 1 also sets precedents for other strips to come. Like many strips to come, this one starts with Bryce creating art in his workshop before hearing a call for help and tranforming into the dDominator. Bryce loves his big 3-wheeler so that is how dDominator will rush to all those in need. And, the strip ends with a dDominator hug because everyone who knows a Down Syndrome person knows how much they love to hug and how generous they are with them.
